Songs To Code By
Feb/091
Welcome to the 2009 edition (okay, the first edition) of Songs To Code By. I’m going to start a meme whereby developers each create a playlist of 30 songs they listen to when coding. The songs should be in MP3 format, with no DRM, and they should send the playlist to every developer they know. If you know me, expect to be listening to these soon:
Way More by Diplo
Everything is Alright by Four Tet
Feel the Love by Cut Copy
Sipping on the Sweet Nectar by Jens Lekman
Don’t Stop by Brazilian Girls

Ok, i’ve been having a good time lately
Things with TheGirl are still cruising along
On saturday we went to see The Mediaeval Baebes at The Mod Club Theatre, and it was an amazing show… the best TheGirl has seen, in fact.
She hadn’t heard them before and was blown away.
When I see a band live, I give them my money, in some way, to make up for my piracy.
I usually buy their CD at the concert, but this time I bought their song book, and they signed it afterwards. Cool!
Pirating a song book would just be dumb, anyway.
On the video game scene, I’m working my way through Indigo Prophecy (excellent) and repeatedly playing the Age of Empires 3 demo. I can beat both maps on moderate now, which was quite a challenge. The key, I find, is to get as many peasants as possible right away, and worry about military once you’re in the 3rd age.
I’m reading “Angels & Demons” by Dan Brown, and a UFO book by Stanton Friedman.
I’ve enrolled in an online course to become a certified paranormal investigator, and I received my textbook, binder, and ELF (extremely low frequency) meter yesterday. Several people called me Egon. What should my ghostbuster name/site be?
Yesterday I received an email from a lady who authors children’s books, and she wanted to know if she could quote me on some of the things I’ve said on my blog! I said “sure” and we had a little chat… I’m excited to get a copy of her book when it’s done and published by Scholastic Press
The thought of buying a quote by me from the little bookmobile that visits schools is craaazy.
On Sunday we had an 8 hour long “Choir Retreat”, and learned a couple of songs, as well as tips on harmonizing, and it was pretty fun… relaxing…
Sinead O’Connor, today, released her traditional reggae album entitled “Throw Down Your Arms”, which I’ve been waiting for since this time last year. Excited to hear it.
Also, I’ve mentioned it before — The AJAX Office. I even guessed that Google would bring it to market first, in an attempt to hit Microsoft where it hurts…. What I didn’t expect was that it would happen TODAY… and I didn’t expect that it would *be* OpenOffice, but web-based. It’s going to rock the cas-bah. Check out the Slashdot.org thread about Google’s Web-Based OpenOffice. To bring this to you, they have partnered with Sun. I just hope it uses AJAX and not Java. Fingers Crossed!
Windows is Microsoft’s primary revenue stream, but Office is a close second. Now there’s a free, web-based one — ouch!
Questions:
Will it let you save your documents to some sort of online drive?
Will it also let you save them to your harddrive?
Will attachments to gmail automatically appear in your online drive?
Will you be able to flag documents as “public” and have them automatically appear on your blogger account? (also owned by google)
Will it be AJAX or Java based?

I saw your tweet about this topic via Mark’s (waterkanji) response. I’m always looking for tunes to help me focus. Thanks for posting this list.
